Working as part of a cross functional team, you lead RDQ activities to complete packaging design and packaging deployment for innovation/growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience. How you will contribute You will independently coordinate technical work for projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks, and coordinate projects to determine appropriate packaging specification information using sampling and supplier management and pilot-plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will also develop activities such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc., and plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers. To succeed in this role, you will use your understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes to ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence. You will be accountable for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions derived from the analysis and interpretation of results; develop and leverage connections both internally and with the external technical community; and create intellectual property to drive competitive advantage. The position reports to the Sr Group Leader Biscuits Savory Packaging, NA RD&Q (located in East Hanover, NJ) RD&Q North America Region Packaging Team RD&Q Category peers and leads. Local & Global. NA Ritz Brand leaders. ISC peers and leads for PCM, BD and External manufacturing. Procurement platforms Leaders. (Flexible, Carton&Corrugate and Rigids) What extra ingredients you will bring:
- Packaging Materials:
apply technical material knowledge to current projects; provide technical based solutions. - Packaging Equipment:
apply knowledge of equipment, operation, capacities, limitations, and potential mechanical shortfalls. - Packaging Evaluation:
apply knowledge of test methodologies for packaging materials specification development. Identify gaps within internal testing capabilities. Apply knowledge to understand critical criteria for in plant testing and defect level. Be able to recommend additional critical parameters as well as be able to outline procedures and work with quality teams. - Graphics:
apply knowledge around the printing process to determine how it affects package performance. Effectively apply to business issues and make - Ability to influence others and get results through working with a diverse team. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage complexity. - Executional excellence, personal leadership, time management, standing alone, decision quality and problem solving competencies. Education / Certifications:
Bachelor of Science (Packaging, Food Science, Mech Eng, Chem Eng. Industrial Eng.), with Master's of Science or Eng. Job
Specific Requirements:
1. Preferred 5-10 years' experience working with packaging technology & science in the Consumer Package Goods industry. 2. 1-3 years of experience managing a scientist/engineering group strongly preferred. 3. Strong engineering skills, packaging science and engineering, and demonstrated successful project management experience required. 4. Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions and geographies. 5. Demonstrated leadership abilities within a science and technical role. Travel requirements:
35% No Relocation support available.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Industrial EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
